2008 Clinic

Get the help you need with your fiction or nonfiction!
Six hours of coaching in a small group of ten writers!

This year our clinic offerings include:

Nonfiction Books with David Fessenden

Not Yet Published Novelists with Lisa Samson

Polish & Shine Your Kids' Novel with Kathryn Mackel

Nangie for Advanced Novelists with Nancy Rue & Angie Hunt

NOTE: "Nangie" will also offer a clinic for Beginning Novelists
during the continuing sessions.

The clinics will meet during the two hour-long workshops each day (for a total of six hours) making it possible for participants also to attend a continuing session.

Your application must be received by e-mail no later than July 16. You will be notified whether or not you have been accepted by July 21.  If accepted, you will need to email your manuscript (please follow the length parameters) to mbagnull@aol.com no later than July 25. Your manuscript (unless you are part of a Nangie Clinic) will be forwarded to your coach and the other participants in your clinic. This will allow time for you to read one another's work prior to the conference and thus gain more from the clinic.

Those accepted for one of the clinics must be registered for the entire conference and pay an additional $65 upon acceptance when they submit their manuscript.

Because the clinics will not be taped, our Appointment Coordinators, Wanda Dyson and Bill Moore, will do their best not to schedule your one-on-one appointments during this time.

A laptop computer is strongly encouraged to get the most out of the clinic.

Applications for all of the clinics are now online. Click here.

This course is shaped by the students—Nancy and Angie will review manuscripts and create challenging exercises and lessons to meet the needs of course participants. We will also discuss branding, finding your unique place in the market, and marketing. Participants will brainstorm and complete exercises in this class, so students should come prepared to write.

Prerequisite:
A previous Nangie or Angie Hunt class.

On acceptance:
You will need to submit 1,000 words of a problematic scene in your manuscript and three questions.

NOTE: Nangie for Beginning Novelists
- Meets during the five continuing sessions for a total of 6-1/2 hours. No prerequisite or application needed but please email a writing sample to mbagnull@aol.com by July 26.
Learn how to make the most of your natural instinct toward plot-driven or character-driven work. Nangie offers an interactive, hands-on experience in a friendly, fun, and nonthreatening environment that will help you hone your fiction skills. Basic plotting, basic mechanics, basic characterization, reading with an editor’s eye, gentle critiques, and an opportunity to get your questions answered. See Continuing Sessions for what needs to be submitted pre-conference.
