Meet with the experts! Show your work!
For each day of the conference you attend, you are entitled to one
free 15-minute appointment. If you attend all three days, you will receive one free
additional appointment - a total of one hour with the professionals of
your choice based on availability. (These appointments are in addition to
any paid critiques you may request.) This one-on-one time is a great way to
avoid the infamous "slush pile" and personally show your manuscript to an
editor or, if you're not ready to present a manuscript to an editor, to
talk with an author and get your questions answered.

Through the Greater Philadelphia Christian Writers Conference
I have made some of the most important personal
and professional contacts of my career.
Dr. Rebecca Price

Even though we have 67 on faculty this year we cannot guarantee you
will get your top choices, but preference will be given to early
registrants. The appointment request form you will receive after you
register has a box to note your registration number to ensure that early
registrants have the best opportunity, BUT
appointment requests postmarked after June 30 will be booked in the order
Bill Moore receives them regardless how early you registered for
the conference. Instead, appointments that are still available will be
scheduled on a first-come basis. So, don’t procrastinate! Mail your
request to Bill as soon as you’ve taken time to think and pray through
your choices. All requests for appointments must be
postmarked no later than July 26. Those who register too late to
submit their appointment requests may sign up when they arrive Thursday
morning.
Please note: A receipt for your registration payment will be coming via
the USPS and will include your registration number. But you don't need to
wait for this to submit your appointment request form since Bill Moore has
a copy of the roster with your registration number.
Before returning your request form, carefully and prayerfully study the editorial needs that
you will find with the faculty bios. (Info is
being posted as we receive it, so visit frequently.) If you do not have a manuscript or concrete
idea to discuss, we recommend that you make your appointment(s) with an
author instead of an editor. An author can help you evaluate the readiness
of your work for publication and give you needed encouragement and helpful
pointers.
It was at the Philly conference that I made the contacts
which resulted in my first book contract with one publisher
and eventually in two book contracts with another publisher!

Author
Appointments are 15 minutes and will be scheduled during
the workshops and continuing sessions when the faculty member is not teaching. The conference schedule
makes it impossible to offer appointments other than during these times,
but please do NOT feel you need to miss an entire workshop or continuing
session to keep your appointments. Faculty understand if you arrive late or leave before the end of their workshop
or continuing session. And
the conference is being recorded!
Please note your preference (#
1 - 8 from the list of agents and others, authors, and book and magazine
editors) on the enclosed form and return it to Bill Moore, GPCWC Appts, PO
Box 4, Hooper, CO 81136. Bill will do his best to give you your first
choice(s).
When you arrive at the conference, you will be notified what
appointments have been scheduled for you. Come prepared to meet with any
one of the faculty members you have selected since Bill is unable to tell
you before the conference who you will be meeting with because of the
number of appointments booked and last-minute changes.
If you do not get your first choice(s), or if
all the appointments you have requested are filled by the time we received
your appointment request form (although with the size of our faculty that
is unlikely) do not despair. The Lord knows the plans He has for you and
your work (Jeremiah 29:11). I am convinced that He will not allow you to
go home without talking to the people He intends for you to meet—if not in
a scheduled appointment then during coffee breaks, mealtimes, or one of
His "divine appointments." (Both editions of my book, Write His Answer—A
Bible Study for Christian Writers, were the result of an unscheduled
meeting with an editor at a conference.)
