     New!

  Nick Muzekari
Publisher/editor Aletheia Writing Magazine
http://aletheiawritingmagazine.com

Nick grew up writing stories and creating artwork, and has a deep appreciation for all of the creative expressions God has given humanity. He received a BA in History from Temple University and then went on to receive a Writing for Magazines Diploma from the Institute of Children’s Literature. He also worked as an advisor in North Philadelphia, helping youth in crisis. Because he is himself a writer, has gone through the ins and outs of the submission process, and has worked closely with authors and editors for many years, Nick can give to Christian teens who are serious about their craft what he has himself learned.

"There is an abundance of opportunities in creative writing and the arts to give others a serious glimpse of the truths of the Christian faith without being preachy or sermonizing. God created all of life, and all of life can and should witness to Him."

The kind of stories or poems Aletheia Writing Magazine is interested in…
Mostly, but not exclusively, ones that can uniquely unveil or glimpse Christian truths in mysterious, beautiful, or wondrous ways, including but not limited to: allegory, fantasy, fable, nature, or inspiration. Show us your creativity!

Two of the greatest Christian writers, Tolkien and Lewis, wrote stories compatible with a Christian worldview and were able to uniquely unveil Christian truth through the fantasy genre. This is just one example of the potential creative writing has to nurture a Christian worldview for readers.

What we're not looking for: sentimentalism, apologetics, legalism, preachiness, plainness, recreations of biblical stories or events, themes that focus on drugs/alcohol.

Marti's years of experience in writing and editing for the Christian market helped her realize that who you are matters as much as what and how you write. This interactive continuing class contains a unique combination of practical insights and professional wisdom. Each session examines a common blunder made by beginning writers and uses real-life examples to reveal the character qualities that help you navigate the often-challenging journey toward publication. Also included are practical tips and specific suggestions for organization, time management, creative thinking, self-edits, and developing your voice.

Workshop - Could Your Blog Lead to a Book? (1E) - Popular blogs have become springboards for nonfiction books. In this workshop, Marti shares from her experience in turning a blog into a book that became a YA bestseller. This workshop explores factors that give a blog publishing potential and suggestions for book proposal development.
