Goal
To make it possible for Christians to self-publish their books affordably
yet professionally. Services (depending on what is needed) include
critiquing, editing, proofreading, typesetting, and cover design.
Before making the decision to self-publish,
it
is important to carefully
and prayerfully consider all the options and not to give up too soon looking
for a royalty publisher. My 6-1/2 hour
Get Your Book
in Print Seminar on tape includes workshops on "Laying a Solid Foundation for
Your Book" and "Writing a Green-Light Book Proposal."
Handouts are included if you order the entire seminar.
Please note
that because of my responsibilities directing the
Colorado and Greater Philadelphia Christian Writers Conferences, I am
presently unable to consider any manuscripts. I would encourage you to order
my tape, "Beginning in Jerusalem through Self-Publishing" that is
also part of my Get Your Book in Print Seminar. It provides information on the steps
involved in self-publishing. The more of these steps you can do yourself,
the more affordable self-publishing becomes. You will, however, still need a
good editor. I recommend Debbie Barker (Ariel-Barker@pcisys.net), Jeanette Gardner Littleton
(Jeanettedl@aol.com), and Marjorie Vawter
(shevetwrite@pcisys.net) who provide critiquing and
proofreading as well as copy/content editing services. Please contact them for rates and turn-around time.
One more thing -
Before making a decision to self-publish, be sure
to prayerfully consider your potential readership and how you will reach
them. I recommend "Spreading the Word through Effective Promotion" (also
part of my Get Your Book in Print Seminar
on tape).

Tired of Playing
Church?
Rediscovering the Book
of Acts Church
by
Mark and Kathi Wilson.
Do you yearn for what the early Christians experienced?
Too many disillusioned disciples have settled into the apathy of merely
attending church and are missing the importance of building authentic
relationships with their brothers and sisters in Christ. Church is not a
place. Church is not an event. Church is who we are and how we related
to one another and to God. After reading this book, simply attending
church won't be enough anymore. You will want to be the church!

The Place of the Mourning Doves
May 2008 release
Reaching Out to Romanian Orphans
by Karleen Dewey
In a tiny corner of Romania's Transylvania miracles are
happening. god is on the move through an international group of
Christian volunteers.
In 1990, the media revealed the tragic conditions of
institutionalized Romanian orphans. Darleen Dewey takes the reader on
her journey of heartbreak and hope as these children struggle toward
healing. Orphanage life can devastate a child. Many obstacles thwart the
efforts of the volunteers to advocate for the children, but they
persevere.
The greatest miracle is when a child knows he is loved and can
return love. Joy comes when one "broken" child can overcome and "fly
away" on his own. No longer are they "trash" to be thrown away, but
delightful sons and daughters of God, their Creator.

A
Matter of Honor
November 8, 2008 release
by
Lucy Woodward
When war broke out in August, 1914, fifteen-year-old
Samuel Liddle faces the chilling reality that he is as much German as he
is English. His parents act fast to save him from possible conscription
in the German army. Soon he is on a steamship bound for America. As his
ship passes the Statue of Liberty, Sam vows to be a gift to her in this
new country. But with his thick German accent will he be welcomed, and
will he be able to overcome the guilt that torments him for leaving his
family behind in Berlin.
"Lucy Woodward, poet and novelist, . . . tells the story of someone in
her life she holds dearly. Her father's strong, yet tender personality
comes alive in a historical story that spans the Atlantic ocean, two
nations at war, and reaches into heaven." Robert L. Whitlatch, M.Div.,

A Word from
Dianne E. Butts
author of
Dear America
"Without Marlene and Ampelos Press, my book, Dear America: A Letter of
Comfort and Hope to a Grieving Nation, would not exist. After the
September 11th attacks on America, I wanted to write to hurting America
to tell those grieving what I have learned of grief, to hand out hope,
and to give out the gospel of Jesus Christ. When Marlene heard what I
wanted to do, she offered to help me publish through Ampelos Press.
"Marlene walked me through the publishing process step by step. She always
offered expert advice for every question I had (and some I didn’t even
know to ask). Her professional editing, typesetting, and design work, and
also the cover work she arranged through Jo Hardesty, created a
professional end product. I have received numerous compliments on the
excellent appearance of my book–both inside and out.
"Because of Ampelos Press, hundreds of copies of my testimony and the
gospel have gone out into the world. Without Marlene and Ampelos Press,
it never would have happened."
