Appointment Procedures

Free 15-minute one-on-one appointments
with the editors, agents, publicists, and authors you need to talk to.

Because I know how important it is to meet one-on-one with editors, agents, and authors,
and because we have such a large faculty, I’m again increasing the number of appointments
you are entitled to receive based on the number of days (Thursday, Friday, Saturday) you attend.
Wednesday does not count as a conference day, and no one-on-one appointments are scheduled on Wednesday.

No conference gives you more opportunities than GPCWC
(and our sister conference in Colorado)!

Register for one day  2 appointments
Two
days – 3 appointments
Three days – 4 appointments

Be among the first 100 to register for the entire conference
and receive a bonus appointment
for a total of FIVE one-on-ones.

Plus Thursday afternoon you may sign up for additional appointments
with faculty who are still available.

Does it get any better?

It was at the Philly conference that I made the contacts
which resulted in my first book contract with one publisher
and eventually in two book contracts with another publisher!

Ever stood in long lines at a conference, praying that by the time it's your turn, the editor you want to meet with will still have an appointment available? Only to lose out?

Not at GPCWC! We provide the opportunity to choose pre-conference who you want to meet face-to-face.

When you register, you will receive a form with space to note your #1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 choice of editors, agents, publicists, or authors. We ask you to also note your #6, 7, 8, 9, and 10 choice. The earlier you register, the better opportunity you have of getting your top four choices - a total of one full hour to pitch your idea to editors and agents or get valuable feedback from established authors.

Early registrants have an edge for receiving their top choices.

Appointment requests received through JULY 1
will be booked in the order of when you registered.

All appointment requests must be received by AUGUST 3.

Please note: Only those registering for all three days are guaranteed four appointments. Two-day conferees are entitled to three appointments; one-day conferees to two appointments.

Appointments are 15 minutes long and scheduled during workshop periods and continuing sessions when the faculty member is not teaching. The conference schedule makes it impossible to offer appointments other than during these times, but please do NOT feel you need to miss an entire workshop to keep your appointments. Your workshop instructor will understand if you arrive late or leave before the end of the workshop. And the conference is being recorded!

Appointment request forms have a box for your registration number to ensure that early registrants have an edge. Requests for appointments received after July 1 will be filled in the order they are received by Bonnie Calhoun, our Appointments Coordinator. All appointment requests must be received by August 3.

When you arrive at the conference, you will be notified what appointments have been scheduled for you. Come prepared to meet with any one of the faculty members you have selected since we are unable to tell you before the conference who you will be meeting with because of the number of appointments booked and last minute changes.

Through the Greater Philadelphia Christian Writers Conference
I have made some of the most important personal
and professional contacts of my career.

Dr. Rebecca Price Janney, Author and Speaker

If you do not get your first choice(s), or if all the appointments you have requested are filled by the time we receive your appointment request form (although with the 10 choices we ask you to note that is unlikely), do not despair. The Lord knows the plans He has for you and your work (Jeremiah 29:11). I am convinced that He will not allow you to go home without talking to the people He intends for you to meet—if not in a scheduled appointment then during mealtimes, coffee breaks, or walking on campus.

Editorial Needs  - You'll find the greatest editorial needs and overworked topics on the faculty bio pages. Click Faculty and then the link to agents and other, book editors, or periodical editors (not yet activated). This information is being added as we receive it so please visit frequently and check out the publisher Web sites as well. We recommend that you do not send your appointment request form in until all this info is posted. Remember, as long as we received your appointment request form by July 1, your appointments will be booked in the order of when you registered.

Authors Are Available - Please keep in mind that your best option may be to meet with an author. If you do not have a manuscript or concrete idea to discuss, we recommend that you request appointments with authors. An author can help you evaluate the readiness of your work for publication and give you needed encouragement and helpful pointers. Click here for bios of our authors.
