Jim and Tracie have been married for over 30 years and have spent most of that time involved in some capacity of writing and research. Jim, a historian and avid reader, has worked as an acquisitions editor and researcher for Tracie and other authors. He teaches at a variety of writers' conferences, as time permits, and has a passion for helping new authors.  He believes strongly in prayer and often encourages those he meets by praying with them.
     Tracie is the best-selling author of over 84 books. She was the one time managing editor of Heartsong Presents, but now focuses on her own writing and teaching at writers' conferences and women’s retreats. She was given the Inspirational Career Achievement award from Romantic Times in 2008. Tracie’s passion, like her husband’s, includes helping new authors. Her writing is a ministry for her and her deepest desire is to help people fall more passionately in love with God.

Beginning novelists will pinpoint the important basic requirements for writing an incredible story. What makes a great plot? How do we develop fantastic characters? What do setting, dialogue, and pacing have in common? How do we inspire and encourage without sounding preachy or trite?

On acceptance you will need to submit a 2 page synopsis of your story and sample chapter to mbagnull@aol.com by April 21. Please send everything in one file as a Word or RTF attachment to an email. You will receive a copy via email of everyone's submission to allow time for you to read the work of the others in your group prior to the conference and thus learn more from Jim and Tracie's comments. This clinic will not include homework during the conference. Limit 10 participants.

Remember when writing was fun? When playing with words was so energizing and satisfying that nothing could keep you away? Want to return to that place? Come and join us as we splash in the joy of being creative. We'll let ourselves run free in the waves of our imaginations and encourage our right brain to come out and play.

Our limited class size will allow us to be highly interactive. Sessions will include scriptural exhortation, open sharing, prayer, and times of personal response designed to feed our spirits and nourish our souls to better equip us to live and write creatively. Expect your writing and how you do it to be forever changed.

Be prepared to offer your all to the Lord and receive His love, healing, and acceptance in UNBLOCKING THE CREATIVE FLOW. Explore and express with paint, clay, drama, free-writing, etc., during PLAY TIME. We’ll examine the concept of being faithful stewards in THE GIFTS HE’S GIVEN. There are many creative ways to PRESENT HIS ANSWER, which we’ll investigate, and then have the opportunity to share our discoveries with others. DEEP IMPACT WRITING will help each of us to discern what the Lord has called us to write and to whom. We’ll end with a new beginning by exploring ways to STAY FRESH in our writing and in our personal connection with the Lord. Limit 12 participants.

If you've longed to rediscover the joy of creativity and felt your heart leap but then plunge because you really can't afford to pay another $65 for the conference, please email mbagnull@aol.com to request a full or partial clinic scholarship. Tell her why you feel God wants you in this clinic and why you need financial help.

You will go out in joy and be led forth in peace;
the mountains and hills will burst into song before you,
and all the trees of the field will clap their hands.

Isaiah 55:12 (NIV)
